Situation Report Sunday

Hi, all. I just wanted to thank everyone for your contributions and well wishes last month; both are greatly appreciated. Also, I wanted to provide you with an update on things, and include a few resources that may be of use to those of you dealing with similar situations in the Boston area. Since my last post, I’ve learned that the Community Development Corporation of Boston, which is the organization interested in purchasing the building, is an investor in the Melnea Partners project on Melnea Cass Boulevard in Roxbury, and is also working on other acquisitions in Dorchester, Roxbury, and Boston’s South End.

According to its website, the CDC of Boston partners with other non-profit organizations to provide assistance to the homeless, and aids in the development of work force housing. So, in addition to the many other avenues I’ve searched to find new accommodations, it appears that the building’s next owners, might turn out to be both problem and solution. At present, I am awaiting a response from them to discover what allowances, if any they have planned for my mother and the other seniors over seventy who currently occupy each apartment in this building.

In the meantime, however, since this IS moving season, here a few resources on “affordable” housing, storage facilities, and other possibly useful links…

That’s all for now… please forward to anyone you think may benefit from these. Also, if you are able, please consider contributing to my personal campaign.

(Unless, of course you already have, in which case, thanks again, for your continued support.) ^_^
